Changes in call regulation
At Megacall, we inform you of a new regulation established by the government regarding the use of calls.
Due to the new regulations to combat fraudulent calls, all telecom operators, including Megacall, must validate the telephone numbers (CallerIDs) used on our network.
This helps prevent consumers from mistaking sales calls for personal contacts, a tactic often exploited by fraudsters.
As part of this effort, telecom operators are required to block calls and SMS messages from unassigned numbers and those with falsified international origins.
What do you need?
- If you use Megacall number, no action needed: If your CalledIDs are phone numbers you got directly from Megacall, you are all set. We will handle the validation for you.
- If you use numbers from other providers: You need to validate these numbers with us.
What documents do you require to validate external numbers?
- Provide proof of ownership: Submit invoice issued within the last 3 months showing the phone numbers and the end user’s name. The name must match your Megacall account details; otherwise, we can’t validate the number.
- Ensure the number can receive calls: Make sure each number can accept incoming calls. Calls should connect to a person, a welcome message stating the end user’s name, or a voicemail stating the end user’s name.
- Verification call: Megacall may call these numbers to confirm they work and accept incoming calls. If a number doesn’t accept calls, we can’t validate it.
Deadline
Complete all validations by April 1, 2025. After this date, any unvalidated CallerIDs will be blocked, and calls using them won’t go through.
We want to inform you that if we discover any violation of the obligations outlined in the aforementioned Order regarding the use of the numbering for call identification, we reserve the right to terminate our contractual relationship. Additionally, we may take appropriate legal action to protect our interests.
